We are proud to present Dr. Anna Grichting, an architect, urbanist and musican and graduated with a Doctor of Design in Urbanism from Harvard University. Anna is a ANHW CH board member.
Anna has practiced as an architect and urbanist and her academic experience includes teaching and researching as a Professor and fellow at the Universities of Geneva, Harvard, MIT, Qatar and Vermont. She has published books and papers and organised numerous workshops, exhibitions and events, as well as being the recipient of research and cultural grants. Her teaching and research focuses on co-creative, interdisciplinary, holistic and regenerative systems-based approaches to urban and landscape design, in particular on the Food-Water-Energy Nexus Design, Soil and Urban Biodiversity, Urban Forestry, Blue Urbanism, the Urban Legacies of Mega Events and Border Landscapes. Anna is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Vermont, Institute of Environmental Diplomacy and Security as well as a Lead Research Consultant for Qatar University with an International Consortium on a Belmont Forum Grant for the Sustainable Urbanisation Global Initiative on the Food Water Energy nexus. She is a nominator and technical reviewer for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in Geneva, especially for urban and landscape projects.
She has participated in, and curated numerous interdisciplinary, cultural and scientific events and workshops, and also performed with her musical ensembles in Switzerland, Pakistan, Morocco, Qatar, and the USA. She is a regular speaker in conferences and congresses worldwide and she has published numerous journals, books, and book chapters. She has also recorded musical CDs with Swiss and international musicians, namely Desert Bridges with her late husband Cheo Jeffery Allen Solder, and her current trio Anna Jazz and Roses.
