Coffee not Cocktails: Networking Strategies for Women
Dr. Janet Shaner, MBA ’89
President of Top10 Learning Solutions
Presented By: Julie Bertolus, Board Member ANHW Switzerland
You know networking is important – no surprises. A good network can help you raise funds for your startup, get promoted, bring new ideas, and build your reputation. Yet women who try to network exactly like men will probably not succeed.
Scientific research reveals that smart networking for women depends on building certain relationships with both men and women. Networking is more about coffee and less about cocktails. More about being involved in activities and less about networking events. About building relationships rather than collecting business cards. Giving versus taking. And having the right networking strategy is what you need to reach your goals.
In this interactive webinar, Dr. Shaner has discussed how to create a science-based networking strategy, customized for women, for better results.

FEMALE SEXUAL HEALTH : A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH
Biography and Topic
Biography: I’m an obstetrician-gynecologist and sexologist from Belgium. I worked at the University Hospitals Leuven in Belgium until 2014. I obtainted a PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2014. The topic of my PhD research project was the sexual well-being of women with a gynecological cancer or breast cancer. Between 2014 and 2016 I lived in Montréal Canada where I did a post-doctoral research fellowship in the „Female sexual health“ lab of Prof Sophie Bergeron. I collaborated in several multidiscplinary research projects on chronic genital pain and worked together with sexual health specialists in Canada and the States (Irwin Goldstein, Irving Binik, Andrew Goldstein, etc). Since 2016 I work in the Geneva University Hospitals. I’m responsible for the clinic for women with female sexual dysfunctions, vulvar pathologie and chronic genital pain. I also work in the endometriosis center and the clinic for women with female genital mutilation.
Topic: The topic of my talk will be the multidisciplinary approach of female sexual dysfunctions (I’m a gynecologist, so I do not see men in my clinic). I will especially talk about sexual pain during intercourse, as it is one of the most frequent sexual problems in women. I collaborate with a psychologist, sexologist, physiotherapist, body-mind therapist. If necessary other disciplines are included such as urology and neurology. Off course, I will focus on my work as a gynecologist, but I will briefly discuss the work of the psychologist, sexologist, physiotherapist in our team in my talk.
